Olympia in Greece is a unique place! It's not just an ancient city, but an entire sanctuary forever etched in history. It was here that the Olympic Games were born, and from here began a tradition we still honor today.

Olympia is located on the Peloponnese peninsula, in its northwestern part, at the foot of Mount Kronos, not far from the confluence of the Alpheus and Kladeos rivers.

The main reason for Olympia's worldwide fame is the Olympic Games. They were held here every four years, beginning in 776 BC and continuing until 393 AD. During the games, a sacred truce was declared—all wars between Greek city-states ceased.

But Olympia was more than just a sports center. It was a major sanctuary, dedicated primarily to Zeus. In its center was the Sacred Grove (Altis) - an enclosed area with temples, altars and other buildings.
